Dr.
Michael Glovsky
was born in Boston, Massachusetts on August 15, 1936. He graduated Magna
Cum Laude from Tufts University and did his medical training at Tufts
Medical School, Boston, Mass, graduating in 1962. He interned in
internal medicine at the Baltimore City Hospital (Baltimore, MD) on the
Johns Hopkins Service 1962-63. Following the internship, he spent the
next 2 years at the National Institutes of Health, National Health,
Lung, and Blood Institute fulfilling his military obligation in the
Public Health Service (1963-65). From 1965-66 he trained as an internal
medicine resident at the New England Medical Center Hospitals, the
teaching hospitals of Tufts Medical School. He then completed 3 years
and 3 months as an NIH special fellow in Immunology, Allergy and
Hematology at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research and the
University of California Medical School, San Francisco (July, 1966-September
, 1969).
Following the fellowship training, Dr. Glovsky joined the Department of
Internal Medicine at the Kaiser Los Angeles Hospital. In 1971 he
tranferred to the Allergy-Immunology Department, Kaiser Los Angeles
Medical Center. In 1972-1984 he served as Chief, Department of Allergy
and Clinical Immunology and co-director of the Allergy Residency
Program. From 1984-89 he joined the University of Southern California
Medical Center as Professor of Medicine in the Lung Division and
Director of the Asthma Clinic. In 1989, he moved to Huntington Memorial
Hospital where he became Medical Director of the Asthma and Allergy
Center (1989-2000).
Dr.
Glovsky has been the author or co-author of 68 publications in refereed
journals in Asthma, Immunology, and air pollution. In addition, he was
board certified in Allergy and Immunology in 1972 and in Diagnostic
Laboratory Immunology in 1986. He has served as President of the Los
Angeles Society of Allergy and Immunology (1979-1980) and is a member of
many local, national, and international societies of allergy,
immunology, and lung diseases. He currently is Clinical Professor of
Medicine at the USC Medical School and part of the Internal Medicine
training program at Huntington Memorial Hospital, as well as, Visiting
Associate in Chemistry at CalTech.

Dr. Reyneiro Castro Jr.
was born in Los Angeles, California in 1971. He graduated from
Pitzer
College in Claremont, CA in 1993 and received his medical degree
from the University of California, Davis in 1998. He did his
residency in Pediatrics from 1998-2001 and served as Chief Resident
from 2001-02. He received his certification from the American Board
of Pediatrics in 2002. He did his fellowship in adult and pediatric
Allergy and Immunology at UCLA; completing his training in 2005.
While working on his Allergy and Immunology fellowship he
participated in an academic fellowship in community asthma at MLK
Medical Center and spent a year working with youth in a asthma and
reading program at the local Boys and Girls Clubs; he completed this
in June 2005.
After completing his training, Dr. Castro joined the Huntington
Allergy and Asthma Center in August 2005.
Dr. Castro is a member of the American Academy of Asthma, Allergy
and Immunology, the American College of Asthma, Allergy and
Immunology and the Joint Council of Asthma, Allergy and Immunology.
Dr. Castro has given lectures in the Pasadena area and was also interviewed on ABC News about spring hay fever.
He continues his interest
in community asthma by participating in the Pasadena Community
Asthma Program at Huntington Memorial Medical Center. |
