Huntington Asthma and Allergy Center offers comprehensive care for people with asthma, chronic sinus disease, immunodeficiency and occupational lung diseases.   Our purpose is to evaluate patients and assist referring physicians by providing appropriate testing and treatment.

The Center can also provide comprehensive evaluation of people with occupational asthma and lung disease.  Such evaluations would be beneficial to attorneys, insurance companies and worker's compensation carriers.

Evaluation and treatment of asthma, allergies, and immunodeficiency can include but are not limited to the procedures below:

Skin Testing

•  Specialized prick and intradermal testing is offered for foods, pollen, animals, stinging insects, vaccines, and medications.  These tests are usefult to help identify allergic triggers for a number of conditions.

Immunotherapy

•  Allergy injections are offered to patients with nasal allergies, asthma and bee sting allergies.  Immunotherapy can often improve a patients symptoms and can either eliminate or significantly decrease the need for medication. 

Challenge Tests

•  Specialized challenges for foods and food additive sensitivities are offered.  For some difficult to diagnose conditions, challenge tests

Drug Sensitivities

• The center offers studies of sensitivities to additives and drugs, using blinded oral or inhalation challenges qualitatively monitored by symptom scores and timed pulmonary function studies, as needed, to establish or rule out offending agents as a cause of asthma or allergic disease.

Primary Immunodeficiencies

• Tests for immunoglobulin, antibody production, complement and lymphocyte subsets will offer a complete evaluation of immune deficiency response and host defense mechanism abnormalities.

Occupational Lung Disease

• Spirometry to assess lung function, and peak flow evaluation to monitor changes in lung function, and challanges or skin testing will be offered
